The Ipswich Basketball Golf Day is back for its eleventh annual running, and we are delighted to announce that the event will return once again to its spiritual home of Fynn Valley Golf Club in north Ipswich for the traditional “shotgun start” on Friday, October 27th 2023.
A staple in the club’s social calendar since 2013, the Golf Day brings together IBC members, supporters and friends for a day of light-hearted but competitive golfing action, with the 18 holes of Fynn Valley playing host to the usual Stableford format as well as longest-drive, nearest-the-pin and birdies competitions.
Following last year's event, which was the first since the passing of Peter Drane, a stalwart supporter of IBC for over twenty years and a mainstay on the Golf Day since its inception, our traditional Golf Day was renamed in his honour. A keen golfer and the proud father of head coach Nick and former chairman Simon, Peter’s generosity and enthusiasm have helped to make the Golf Day what it is today, and he will be sorely missed by all at IBC.
“It’s always a pleasure to put together the IBC Golf Day, and for the last two that responsibility carries a little extra weight,” according to Vice-Chair, Robert Schatten. “Peter Drane was always a cornerstone of the Golf Day and the club is greatly indebted to Peter and his society mates for the support they’ve shown IBC over a number of years.”
We hope to do Peter proud once more by filling out the entry list for this year’s return to Fynn Valley. The shotgun start format does mean entries are limited to 18 teams of four; two of the last three events have featured more than 18 entries, so we encourage you to download the entry form and submit it to reserve your place as soon as you can.
The application form can be downloaded below:
All information for how and where to send your completed form is available on the forms above, which can be submitted to office@ipswichbasketball.co.uk
If you have any questions about the event, please contact event organiser Rob Schatten on robschatten25@gmail.com
This year’s event will cost £50 per player (£200 per team of four). Each participant receives a bacon roll and coffee at registration, 18 holes of golf, entry to the nearest-the-pin and longest-drive contests, and lunch after their round. A raffle and some additional games will be run on the day.
Any partners wishing to support the event can do so by sponsoring a hole for just £60, as part of which you’ll receive a branded banner.
All at EIBC thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you at Fynn Valley in October!
