It was success for the South Super Regions at the 3rd annual Basketball England National Aspire tournament in Manchester this weekend with the South Region winning three of the four age groups.
Endeavour Ipswich Basketball Club was superbly represented with current club players Amelia Ariyo and Rosie Smythe playing key roles on the u13 team while Tanaia Robinson and Anna Koscielny-Lemaire also helping the u15’s to victory. The u13’s were helped by former club player and multiple time National Champion, Charlotte Redhead on the staff, while the u15’s were led by the familiar coaching team of Nick Drane and Danny Manning.
The u13’s were the dominant team in the tournament, winning all three of their group games before comfortably beating the North in the final. However, the u15’s made things far more dramatic, losing to the North in the group stages by six and fighting back from twelve down to win the national championship in the final seconds by a single point.
Congratulations to Basketball England on a great event, and to the South Region for the dominance.
