Endeavour Ipswich Basketball Club's D1 Women secured their first road win of the season with a comprehensive 101-50 win at Reading on Sunday.

After a sluggish start, Ipswich found their rhythm with two minutes to play in the first quarter, going on an 8-0 run to finish the first period. From that moment on, the team didn’t look back – with all 12 Ipswich players and making an impact as the team looked like a formidable foe for any team in WNBL Division One.

Harriet Welham was at her brilliant best with a 28-point ten rebound double-double, while Maddy Wormald added an impressive line of fifteen points, nine rebounds, seven assists and seven steals. Louisa Gibbins also chipped in with another double-double of her own. The trio were well supported across the board, with Hannah Gray (12) and Cerys Leach (12) also in double figures. Elsewhere, a senior debut was handed to 6’5 16 year old, Holly Ensoll, who impressed in her seven minutes of play.

Ipswich won all four quarters, playing with flare and confidence, with the win moving them to 3-1 on the season, good enough for second place in the league. It’s very early stages, but next Saturday’s game vs Manchester (3-1) will give some indication as to how the season could end up, with the WNBL standings starting to take shape.
