Endeavour Ipswich Basketball Club’s Senior Women moved to 5-0 in the season (4-0 in league play) with a strong road win against a tough Reading Rockets team on Saturday.
Ipswich have had to adjust several things due to the loss of Liv Partridge and Christabel Osarobo and have managed to grind out two important wins against teams with big reputations over the past two weekends. The Suffolk side followed up their win at HQ last weekend against ARU with a hard fought victory against Reading, taking the game 70-60.
Ipswich looked to be in control for much of the game holding a lead that grew to as many as thirteen on a couple of occasions, while the hosts brought it back to as few as three multiple times. However, it was the stifling Ipswich defence that allowed the visitors to grab what could be an important victory.
Ipswich won three of the games four quarters, holding their experienced opponents to 60 points in the game while again showing off their offensive firepower. Liv Forster was in fine form, connecting seven three’s on her way to 30 points, while Harriet Welham had yet another double-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks. However, it was a total team effort again from Ipswich who are now one of only two remaining undefeated teams (the other being Brent Bulls).
Ipswich have a double header weekend coming up with a home league game against Manchester (3-1) at 1pm on Saturday before they travel to ARU on Sunday evening for a National Cup encounter.
