Match Report: Senior Women fall to defeat

The Endeavour Ipswich Basketball Senior Women suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday as they lost in overtime to CoLA Southward Pride.

Despite battling foul trouble, Ipswich battled from ten points down in the third quarter to find themselves in a strong position with less than two minutes on the clock, holding a double-figure lead. However, the combination of some phenomenal shooting from the home side, and some uncharacteristic sloppy play down the stretch led to an incredible 13-0 run to take the game into overtime. In the extra period, CoLA were able to carry their momentum on, with the league leaders eventually falling to a 102-95 defeat in a thrilling encounter.

“We didn’t do enough to win the game, it’s as simple as that. The game is won over forty minutes, not in the final one or two minutes. CoLA are always excellent, whether on their home court or on the road. We are fortunate that we have put ourselves in a strong position after six games and it’s great that we have a game on Tuesday in the National Cup to focus on”. Said Head Coach Nick Drane.

Ipswich host Brent Bulls at Copleston on Saturday, who are now the only remaining undefeated team in WNBL Division One in what will be a top of the table clash.
