Match Report: Senior Women dominate another win

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball Club’s Senior Women moved to 8-1 in league play with another comprehensive win against an under strength Barking Abbey side.

Ipswich led from start to finish, with an efficient performance that allowed Coach Drane to heavily rotate his talented roster, while maintaining a level of dominance.

Barking, who travelled without their second and third leading scorers, put up a valiant fight and with little scoring support, the league’s second leading scorer Ruchae Walton, had the whole Ipswich defence focused on stopping her. Despite this, the talented guard still managed nine points in the game.

Ipswich now turn their attention to a double header weekend that could have a very real say in how the second half of the season might look. The team will travel four hours to face the in-form Bristol Flyers on Saturday in the league before travelling to London on Sunday to face off against City of London Academy in the National Cup Quarter Final on Sunday – the only team to have beaten the Suffolk side so far this season.

The form book suggest these could be the two toughest games of the season so far.

Ipswich were led by another blockbuster stat line from Harriet Welham, who collected 33 points and 19 rebounds. Liv Forster added an efficient 15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists while Christabel Osarobo, Yazmin Edwards and Danni Cazey all also found themselves in double figures in the 98-52 win.
