Match Report: Men's league title hopes ended with home loss

Ipswich 69 – London Westside 79

An underpar offensive performance cost Ipswich dearly as they lost for the second time this season to NBL Division II rivals London Westside at Copleston on Saturday.

The defeat, which confirms that the Suffolk side cannot finish top of the division this season, is the team’s second loss in three following a run of five straight wins either side of the Christmas break.

Jake Eynon had 21 points and Luke Mascall-Wright finished with an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double for the hosts.

The first twenty minutes were extremely even, Ipswich trailing by just two points at the half, 41-43.

Following a run to come back within three at the end of the third quarter, however, Coach Adam Robinson’s men lost their way offensively to put up just 10 points in the final frame, falling away in the closing minutes.

American guard Donald Morris had 21 points for Westside.
