Endeavour Ipswich Basketball Club is delighted to announce the return of another club legend, with Danni Cazey making a comeback to our Senior Women’s team for the 2023/2024 season.
Danni has been a part of the club since she was just twelve years old, working her way up through the clubs junior ranks, and attending the academy in its early years, before establishing herself as one of the all time great players at senior level.
Danni last played for the club in the historic 2020/2021 season, in which our senior women recorded a second consecutive WNBL league championship, and were also crowned Division One playoff champions. Cazey started every game that season, on her way to being the teams second leading scorer (13.2PPG).
“Danni is a perfect addition to our team. She brings a wealth of experience, of National League Basketball in general, but more specifically of our club, and how we like to do things. She is a champion and a winner, and someone who will make a massive contribution both on and off the court, to our team” Said an ecstatic Head Coach Nick Drane.
Since the relaunch of the women’s programme back in 2017, only Harriet Welham scored more points for the all-conquering Ipswich Women, who won the National Cup, Division Two, the Division Two Playoffs, Division One twice and the Division One playoffs in a four period between 2017 and 2021. Danni didn’t miss a game during that period.
“I’ve missed playing enormously over the past two seasons, so it’s great to be back” said Cazey, who added “It’s been great to see such a young team do so well over the last couple of seasons, and obviously the success at u18 and academy level in the last two seasons has been incredible – we have some really exciting young players in the team, and I am really looking forward to playing with them all, as well as getting to line up alongside Harriet again”.
Cazey joins Harriet Welham in returning to a team that looks very different to the group they left in 2021. However, with the likes of Olivia Forster, Christabel Osarobo, Louisa Gibbins and Yazmin Edwards blossoming last season, its an exciting blend of high calibre experience, championship pedigree and exciting young players taking the court for Endeavour Ipswich Basketball Club this season.
